Energy Evaluation Engineer

We are seeking an engineer with experience in the building energy field to evaluate energy efficiency programs. The right person for this job has a mix of technical and interpersonal skills and an interest in overseeing efficiency programs throughout the United States.

Evaluation work requires a wide variety of skills, from the technical (energy calculations, monitoring and verification, and energy modeling, and statistical analysis), to more communicative tasks (survey design, in-depth interviewing, research, reporting). The types of efficiency programs being evaluated also vary, and include commercial and residential efficiency programs, demand side management programs and educational programs.

The following qualifications are desirable:

A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field

Three to five years of experience in the building energy field

An understanding of the basic principles underlying building energy use, including thermodynamics, heat transfer, and electricity

Experience with some or all of the following tasks: energy modeling, bin data analysis, monitoring and verification, data logging, statistical analysis

Knowledge about efficient technologies, including lighting, HVAC equipment, motors, building envelopes, compressed air, and industrial process equipment

Familiarity with ASHRAE, IESNA, IPMVP and other codes and standards

Written and verbal communication skills, and technical research abilities

Beyond these qualifications, we're looking for someone with the ability and desire to keeping learning about energy efficiency and continue to gain expertise in the evaluation field.
